Zen and the Art of Trumpet Playing:

Trumpet Technique: Lips and Face

Trumpet Technique: General

Breathe:

- Take as big a breath as possible at all times. Learn to breathe

- When breathing in, make your mouth into the shape of an "O". Try to take a large amount of air in as quickly as possible.

- Your abdominal area should expand when inhaling. Go ahead, get fat for a moment.

- If you're breathing right, you can push yourself forward from the backrest of a chair.

- It's okay to raise your shoulders when taking in a breath. Just be sure to set them back down and keep them relaxed when playing.

- Big Breath - Chest up (Claude Gordon) - Don't let your chest collapse when you play, only your abdominal area should expand and contract.
